Welcome to the Third Party Products & Services forum.
This forum is dedicated to helping you with your Ventrino software through third party products and services. These services are not offered by Ventrino, they are offered by other fellow forum members who can help you on your quest to create an online community. Charge Money or Just Good Friends? It is nice that people offer their services free of charge but the people who do offer free services are robbing the receiver of a simple way in which to show their appreciation. Not everyone finds it so easy to express their gratitude and not everyone has a comparable skill they could share to offset the imbalance. Therefore I think we should make a rule that you either charge a commercial rate for your service or product, or you should provide a Paypal Donation button where a recipient can choose to make a small donation (or a large one if they like!). I often make small donations via Paypal. It's easy and for the price of a beer I can say thank you to someone who provides me a valuable service even though they don't know me (isn't the Internet great?). How will the forum run? I think it would be good for people to comment on the quality and performance of the product and service. Criticism and complaints are really a plea for assistance and are positive communication (not negative). I understand Harry's comment that this could be abused but this forum will run within the current rules and any abuse would be dealt with in the same way. It would be useful to see comments from users of the product or service. We don't want the forum to become a full blown support service, that should remain between the provider and the buyer, but hints tips and other useful comments sound like a good idea as long as they stay on the original topic. To support this every new topic will be moderated and only those offering a service (whether commercial or donation) will become visible to the public. However anyone will be allowed to ask questions or comment by posting to the topic. When you post a new Topic it may take upto 48 hours to appear on the forum. I will try to approve them sooner but will contact you by PM if I feel changes are required . Walker will not take a commission and of course accept no liability for the services offered by anyone through this forum. What Kind of Services Can I Offer? 1. They must be legal and comply with our AUP ie no Porn, Hate etc.. 2. They must have an ongoing supply nature. So no one-off sales of websites (Community Discussion is a good place for that or Exchange Discussion if you are selling an exchange). So for example if you offer web design, installation, configuration or backup service they are ideal. The sale of software and product add-ons is fine as long as they are beneficial to the community, spam offering MS Office at a discount or a regular supply of v1g4a (whatever that is?) and anything similar is not OK (common sense will make it easy for you to decide if your product or service is ok). 3. No matter how small or large the service you provide as long as it is complimentary to the forum and associated services they are welcome. What should my advert/topic include? A description of your service. Please use the subject and tag lines wisely. They must include enough information for the reader to know what it is you do before opening the post. Subjects like "What I can offer" will not be accepted. You have to be specific to be terrific! For example :- Your subject could be: Website design and HTML Programming Your tag line could be: From simple splash pages to entire exchanges The above examples clearly define the services you offer and enable someone who is looking for a website design to include you as a potential candidate. The body of your message should include as much information as you feel necessary. You can include links to examples, supporting pictures can be uploaded (or use links from ImageShack to avoid the forum automatically reducing them). Videos and sound clips are OK too! Common sense and forum rules apply as normal. What should my advert/topic NOT include? Everyone here is in the business of selling banners, text ads, page views and related services. It therefore would be kinda dumb to try flog these services in this category wouldn't it? There are good places for that already, some people share their services through a co-op but thexe should be discussed in the Exchange Discussion forum. So in short; do not use this area to offer a service that everyone reading this board will already offer. Conclusion Above all the idea behind the new forum will be to foster a stronger community and to put people who need assistance in touch with assistance providors. It won't be a forum where you post a request for help. Instead it's a forum to find out if the service you need is covered by someone you already know, a fellow forum member. |

Hello,
I design banners for TE's and regular websites as well. I keep a record of what I have made so I don't duplicate anything I have made for someone else. If you have images I can use them, but I have 1000's myself. I do my best to make each banner unique. A small donation is all that is required, you set the amount after you are pleased with my work. A sample will be given first, and once the donation is recieved, the original will be sent to you. I have attached some I have made for others and for my own site, so you can judge my work for yourself. On occasion, I also design headers and splash pages. Thank You, Lorraine -------------------- Lorraine
