SYMPTOMS

Your site appears to be blank.

If you FTP to your site you see all the files and everything looks OK.

CAUSES

You made a change to the configuration (BCP/System Configuration). Everything was working OK before the change but as soon as you saved the site did not show correctly or at all.

If you were pasting code into a text field sometimes an invalid character gets copied across and corrupts the configuration file.

This can effect partial operation of the site or the entire site can fail. In either case it is easy to detect the problem as it is immediately apparent after you save the configuration.

RESOLUTION

There are two possible solutions:-

1. Replace the config.inc.php file in your wwwroot/data with a backup.

2. Edit the config.inc.php file in you wwwroot/data folder and remove the change you just made.

STATUS

The nature of browser operation means there is little we can do at the time of input. We have considered warnings and adding tools to reduce the occurrences, however as this problem is rare it is unlikely they would be utilised. See the resolutions above for the suggested solution if you are experiencing this problem.
